I really hate the three/four o'clock feeding. Why? Because Mason has yet to figure out that 3 am is way to early to be awakeee. Did I just put 3 e's on the end of awake? Yes.. I did. To top off M's early rise and grunt-fest, Kate informed me last night at 10:00 that she wasn't "sweepy." What would you like to be doing instead? I asked. "Pwaying with you." I assured her I was not playing, and that I would love to be sleeping.
5:17 am - still awake.

Splish Splash!
It's been a while since we've had a real adventure. Unless you count every time I leave the house with 2 kids - that in itself could be considered an adventure, I guess. Saluda Shoals is a beautiful County park located just across the dam in Irmo and they happen to have a cute little splash park.
Of course we assumed that Kate would actually want to play in the water....
Can you tell that she is positioned perfectly to NOT get wet?
Still dry....
Warming up to the idea of getting wet...
She was much more interested in the nearby playground.
See that spiral slide? Yep, she went down it more than 5 times.

Mama donned a bathing suit, but might not have been brave enough to take off the cover-up. Note: I don't own a one-piece suit... yet.
Mason? Along for the ride.
Took some time to snack with Daddy.
And took a few minutes to stop and smell the flowers! (We try to do that as often as possible)
So now we're ready for our next adventure. As long as you have food for Mason, you can go anywhere!!

Guess!
Seriously, I've written so many blogs in my head lately, they just don't seem to make it to the web. I'm going to change that soon, I promise. Until then, here are more pics to keep you occupied.
I think we may have a Guess! girl. These are her new jeans with flowers that she just loves.
And I swear I'd add Mason to the front porch pics if laying your 5 week old on cold, hard concrete
steps wasn't generally frowned upon by 99.9987% of the population. So here he is being entertained (or entertaining, depending on your view) while I cooked dinner the other night.

And the hair... oh, the hair. We got a hair cut, but these red locks still have a mind of their own! Sometimes we try to tame them with little clips.

One Month Old
It's already been 4 weeks, and I think this boy is actually getting cuter every day!
And what a lucky boy he is to have a big sister to keep him entertained!

Just Having Fun!
I sure have enjoyed having Kate all to myself this week! Here's what we've been up to:
Ready for Zoo camp!
Flamingo backpack.
I guess it was hers first. So nice of her to share.
Getting bigger....

Zoo Babies
Gotta start them off right. Mason made his first trip to the zoo today. If you know anything about Riverbanks Zoo, you're thinking that we're nuts because that has to be the hottest place in Columbia. It is also very shady, and in the shade, it was very nice this morning. It was starting to get hot at about the time we left.
Looking at the Brown Bears. They even went swimming - smart Bears.
Merry-Go-Round with Daddy. Our new membership lets us do stuff like this on an unlimited basis.

Kate and I riding the elephant. Getting on this elephant was quite the challenge.

And then we came home to hang out with Grandma and Grandaddy. A little grilling, some playing. It was a fine afternoon.

Playtime!
Guess who doesn't mind a little tummy time?!
Reading about Noah.
Just chillin'.
Oh, and a first tub bath too.. not as much fun, but totally bearable.
