School's Out!

Gosh, she's starting to look like a big kid. It is so hard for me to believe that she was only in 2-year-old preschool this year. How is that possible? She seems like she's 5 to me. In a way it helps it feel like things aren't moving too fast.  In case you wanted a little comparison to how we started the year, you can find that HERE.

And of course we had to take advantage of the front porch photo op

Mason wasn't much on holding hands.

No, seriously. Don't. Hold. My.

Hand!

At least everyone is smiling,Yes?

After school we had to sit and have a lollipop with Kate's bestie, B. These 2 girls? Cut from the same cloth.

One Love

What a sweet little boy. So hard to believe he's already one.  I think that it is no coincidence that boy and joy are only one letter off. This is a joyful little guy. Always smiling, waving and blowing kisses.

Mason, on your first birthday you:

Are crawling and standing, but still nervous to step out on your own!

Can say Da Da, Ma Ma, Bye Bye, Cheese, and Uh Oh

Know what the elephant, snake and duck say

Point at us with two cute, little crossed fingers

Wave and blow lots of kisses

Adore your big sis

Will eat anything in sight - but sliced cheese and blueberries are you favorites

Like to clap

Perform the motions for "Itsy Bitsy Spider" and "Patty Cake Patty Cake" (and it sure is cute when you "roll 'em in the pan")

Are starting to get angry when Kate takes your toys

Are more adorable than we ever could have imagined.

Here's the year in review. We hope that there are many more fantastic years ahead!

Muffins with Mom

Today I got to go to preschool and have muffins with Kate. What a fun time. She was just a little bit excited that I was there. She couldn't have been as excited as me!

She even gave me a tour of her classroom!

She likes to play at the vanity and pretend she's putting on makeup. You're surprised, aren't you? :)

Books are always a hit. She told me that we had to buy this book. I forget why, but it was very important.

Playing on the car rug.

Mobile Monday

Another fun weekend in the books! Kate was recovering (quite nicely as you'll see below) from a bout of pharyngitis - aka Strep throat. We didn't bother to have them test her - it was classic - high fever, headache, stomach ache, sore throat). Bleagh.  She did enjoy the trip to Urgent Care.  She didn't want to put the thermometer under her tongue. I said: "Well, it's that or in your bottom, which is it?" She barely hesitated: "Bottom!" Huh? What child chooses that? Mine, apparently.

That was on Thursday. On Friday she was back to her usual self.  Dancing to the Beastie Boys, wearing a crown, Mardi Gras beads and fairy wings.

Mason continues to be challenged to sit this cute little bottom in the tub.

He prefers to sit in Kate's chair than his own. Doesn't really matter if she's in it or not.

Mason and I went shopping Sunday afternoon. I took him mostly because he's having some serious separation anxiety at the moment. So if I leave his sight he screams like someone is chopping off his toes. He's a great little shopper.

Then we cooked out Saturday afternoon. Here's Foz smiling for the camera.

We made it through another week.

It's a Mystery

This morning on the way to Nan's, Kate and I had a little conversation that went something like this:

Kate: Mom! There is a mystery!
Me: What's that?
Kate: I can hear the Barbie phone. It is in my toy box, but I can't see it.
Me: Oh. OK.
Kate: I am going to use my spy glass  <<< (long pause) >>>  my magifying glass, to investigate it!

I'm becoming less surprised by her vocabulary, but some days I'm amazed at the words she strings together.
