Mason - 9 months

Ok, this post is a little late, but since all of the pics are of Mason, I figured I might as well just make it his 9 month update.

He's 23 lbs and 28 inches of smiley goodness. That's a little over 4 lbs heavier and 2 inches shorter than Kate (for those of you keeping track).  Their heads measured the exact same circumference at 18 inches. Also, at 9 months, Kate was just cutting her first two teeth. Mason has 7. SEVEN!

Isn't he a sweetie pie?

Likes?  Reading books, his big sister, bananas, singing and dancing, standing up.

Dislikes? Being told no.

Exhibit A.

Being fenced in.

Exhibit B.

Doesn't mind? Vacuum cleaners. (Yes, that is Smurfette. No, that is not his Smurfette. Yes, he would be in BIG trouble if you-know-who spotted him gnawing on Smurfette.)

Love

Tonight in the tub we talked a lot about how you have to teach babies everything.  I told Kate that babies don't know how to walk or talk or share or ride bikes, we have to teach them all of that stuff.  "But sometimes Mason grabs me." I explained that he grabs her because he loves her, and that he doesn't understand because he's a baby. "Well, grabbin' isn't love, Mace, hugging is." I told her that she'd have to teach Mason how to hug  Then she spent the rest of the evening teaching him how to hug.

For the past three nights, Kate has fallen asleep in Mason's room on the floor, in her sleeping bag, while I rock Mason and we listen to music.  Tonight, since she was into teaching Mason, she wanted him to sleep in the sleeping bag with her.  So we stuck M in the bag and they had a grand old time (before he was placed in his own bed).

Two Posts, One Day

I know, you aren't quite sure what to do, are you? Two posts in one day, when I haven't posted for weeks!? It's true. I've begun blogging from the kitchen, and I think that has made all the difference.  That, and I couldn't help but share a tub story.

As you know, we've begun sibling baths. Mason clearly needs to learn a little tub etiquette. Sometimes Kate likes to lay down in the tub. As you can imagine, Mason takes up a lot of space in our little tub, so it was cramping her style.  "Mom! Mason isn't letting me relax!" As he squeezes her bottom and squeals.  Can't blame the girl. I like to relax in the tub too.

Don went out with an old friend tonight and we were on our own.  They got into the toy box. Toy chaos ensued.

Quote of the Day

I was digging around on the interweb Sunday and came across a blog that I just love!  The first post I read can be found HERE. It is about house stalking and buying your dream house. Right up my alley - I've just never put a note in anyone's mailbox.

The author of the blog is also a Mommy (to 5!?!), and blogs about good family stuff in general. Today I found this great quote, and she does an awesome job of relating it to motherhood. So.... if you like it, just click! and you can see the rest of the blog! Oh, and Happy Tuesday!

Holiday EdVenture

We have a great Children's Museum right here in town, and I've never been there!  So, since I had the day off today, we packed up and went downtown to explore.

This guy has a name. I don't know what it is, but we'll call him Ed.  You can crawl around inside of him, but Kate was too short to go up the ladder. Which is best. I really didn't want to have to go in and rescue her.

Instead she took care of all of the kitties and puppies at the Vet exhibit.

Every dog/cat she cared for needed one of these collars.

Cute shopping exhibit. You can tell this is make-believe because she is putting vegetables in her cart.

Checking out.

Cleaning this guys teeth with the special toothbrush, just like Missy!

Firegirl. Please do not imply that she might be a fireman.

Cutest fireman on the truck.

Fun ride!

The reason we really went was that they had a visiting exhibit that let you "walk through" some classic books.  It was pretty cute.

Not sure what this book was, but she liked the hats.

What a fun day with my two favorite kiddos!

Catch Up

I'm still trying to figure out how to juggle looking after 2 kids, blogging, cleaning house, working full time, and playing princesses. As you can probably tell, I'm not doing such a great job right now. So.. here we go. Playing catch up once again.

Unfortunately I don't walk around with my camera attached to my neck (like I probably should), but the phone is usually close by so that I can grab a few shots of what goes on around here.

Sometimes we go out for coffee.

And cake pops.

Mason thinks he's a pretty cool kid. He is.

It's double bath time around here.  It goes well most of the time.  First time, was not a charm (although you couldn't tell it from the picture - maybe I'll post the video soon).

We updated M's wardrobe with a little orange.

It was nice enough to swing yesterday before the rain. Mason is a fan of swinging.

Remember the last time you felt like this about something?

Yeah, me either. Kate got a haircut yesterday. It's kind of hard to tell in this photo, but believe me, it looks MUCH better.

She spent a good deal of time "hiding" from Foster and.. something else. Zombies? Airplanes? I forget.

And now? Laundry. Dishes. Chaos management.

Mason is crawling around picking up trash off the floor. I swear, I can't get him to put actual finger food in his mouth, but leaves or stickers? Not a problem. Kate is watching Beauty and the Beast (again), and whining when she walks past Mason because he "wants to grab her." Well, of course he does. He's 9 months old. Now... if I could just teach him to put that broom to work!

Lazy Sunday

It was a lazy weekend. Speaking of lazy, I've been kind of behind on blogging lately. Here are a few pics to help make up for it.  I'll have an actual post sometime soon.

Mason has graduated to the big tub. He's VERY happy about it. Mommy is too, because now I'm not as wet as he is when we finish.

Kate is enjoying M more every day.

Today they even got married (in their Mickey/Minnie ears).  Too much "Say Yes to the Dress" I think.

We're excited about Valentines Day.  We made Valentines for the class this afternoon.

While Mason just played.
