Isle of Palms Vacation

Jenny & I took a week off to play in Charleston. We shared a beach house with Jenny's parents on the Isle of Palms and kept dog in the Paw Plaza in Mt. Pleasant. We did a some shopping, a little kayaking and filled in the gaps with a good measure of laziness. Hurricane Ernesto threatened to kill the end of the week but it only ended up making Thursday a rainy day which didn't end up being so bad at all. Enjoy the pictures!

Foster punking the dogs that didn't get to lay in the surf this summer...

It isn't exactly the North Shore but I had fun.

Moved in!

We were able to successfully move into the new house this past weekend despite the efforts of our moving company to delay us a few more days. For anyone interested DO NOT USE We-Haul-U in the Columbia area. It went something like this famous Seinfeld episode:

Jerry: I don't understand. Do you have my reservation?
Car Rental Assistant: We have your reservation, we just ran out of cars.
Jerry: But the reservation keeps the car here, that's why you have the reservation!
Car Rental Assistant: I think I know why we have reservations.
Jerry: I don't think you do. You see, you know how to *take* the reservation, you just don't know how to *hold* the reservation. And that's really the most important part of the reservation: the holding. Anybody can just take them.

Eventually we were able to get a 26' truck from Ryder and with the help of our parents on both sides we were able to get moved by midday Sunday. We're still up to our ears in boxes and crumpled newspapers but we're making good progress and really enjoying the new house. Overall, the pets are doing fine. Foster doesn't seem to know that he moved. Smokey is terrified of all of the ceiling fans and the garage door. Kyra is still trying to figure out how she ended up being the outside cat.

East Cooper Baptist Church Online

While Jenny and I were working in Charleston we worshiped at East Cooper Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant. The church's website is http://www.ecbconline.com . If you live in Charleston you have to visit at least once. The membership, sermons, and fellowship activities are absolutely amazing. Out of all of the wonderful parts of Charleston ECBC is what we miss the most. The primary reason I'm mentioning the website is because the sermons have recently been posted online. Follow the 'Resource' link then 'Sermons' to either stream the sermon or save it to your PC to listen to later.

Double Dog Days

We're watching out for a stray Basset Hound puppy
for a few days until we can find her a good home.
Here are a few pictures of Foster the Wonder-Dog
and Samantha the world's noisiest Basset.

Aussie rules... lots of dirt, not upright.

Samantha... acting a little more civilized.

Wilmont House

Here's the latest one... I think we might actually move into it if all goes well.

New House?

It looks like we might be building a new house in Lexington, SC. Several weeks ago we found a 1.2 acre wooded lot in Kelsey Glen that is everything that we were looking for. We will miss the convenience of living downtown Columbia and its hard to leave the Coleman Street house but its too small and requires more time to renovate than we have available. Here's the front elevation and floor plan of the house we're planning to build. If you like the style, you can find a lot more at www.allisonramseyarchitects.com . Another great website for house plans is www.southernclassicdesign.com .

Sunset

Palm on the Beach

Here's a picture of one of the palms on the beach. Yes, this was the beach we went to. Yes, we took this photo...

View From Our Room

We got a great room again this trip. Here's a view of the beach from our patio.

Swept Away Breakfasts

Swept Away will bring your breakfast out to your patio in the morning if you request it. Jenny and I enjoyed Jamaican Jablum coffee with fruit and croissants every morning. Its a great way to start the day!

Jamaica - December 2005

Jenny and I went back to Jamaica this year to celebrate our 2nd anniversary. The weather was perfect all week and we had a long relaxing week. We went snorkeling almost every day and the food was great. We'll definitely be back. This first photo is a view of the resort (Couples Swept Away in Negril) near our room.
