 It looks like someone cares for this child.  You know, other than a pack of wild dogs or an orphanage.

 

One Month Old

It's already been 4 weeks, and I think this boy is actually getting cuter every day!

And what a lucky boy he is to have a big sister to keep him entertained!

Just Having Fun!

I sure have enjoyed having Kate all to myself this week! Here's what we've been up to:

Getting bigger....

Zoo Babies

Gotta start them off right.  Mason made his first trip to the zoo today.  If you know anything about Riverbanks Zoo, you're thinking that we're nuts because that has to be the hottest place in Columbia. It is also very shady, and in the shade, it was very nice this morning.  It was starting to get hot at about the time we left.

Looking at the Brown Bears. They even went swimming - smart Bears.

Kate and I riding the elephant. Getting on this elephant was quite the challenge.  

Merry-Go-Round with Daddy.  Our new membership lets us do stuff like this on an unlimited basis.

And then we came home to hang out with Grandma and Grandaddy. A little grilling, some playing. It was a fine afternoon.

Summertime!

It's officially here!  Here are some shots of how we spent our long weekend. It was a great one - I sure didn't want it to end.

A new grill for Don. The Big Green Egg.  The weather was nice enough in the evenings that we could all sit out on the deck, listen to good music and enjoy the new Egg.  We used it every day - wow!

Update

At Mason's 2-week-old checkup today we confirmed at least 2 things:

1. He's topped the 7 lb mark.

2.  He's still extra, extra cute.

Last Day of School!

Today is Kate's last day of 1-year-old pre-school.

Remember this girl?

Can you believe this is her now?!

What a wonderful year with two wonderful teachers.

Kate learned a lot this year. Most importantly she learned about friends and how to love others. She starts zoo camp in 2 weeks at the same church school.  You know my zoo girl - she's an expert in zoo animals, so it should be fun. And there will be a sprinkler day - she doesn't know this yet, but I'm sure we'll have to have sprinkler day often once she's let in on the secret.

And then came home for some tummy time. Which, oddly enough, he doesn't seem to mind.

So Special

 This is one special girl we have.  We went to a Teddy Bear picnic this week at Kate's school. They sang songs. She is so precious.

Lacking Motivation

Lately I have only been motivated to do this:

And I was afforded that luxury for a late birthday/early Mother's Day this past weekend.  It was a fabulous getaway - just me and Don. We sat on the beach, ate great seafood, watched the sunset from the rooftop bar, paid too much for suntan lotion, survived the Russian mafia, and just had a great time in general. It was a nice break before the chaos really begins at our house.  And you haven't heard a peep from us because I've been too pooped to post lacking motivation to do anything.  But just so you know, we're still here and waiting for Brother to make his appearance, and I'm fighting this lack of motivation to bring you a few pictures of life over the last few weeks.

There was the shower that I didn't blog about b/c I had to download pictures from Mom prior to posting (any post requiring more than 2 steps is doomed). We now own lots of fabulous blue things.

We ate our breakfast outside and Kate tried to share her yogurt raisins with Kitten.

We did some shopping at Target.

And made sidewalk chalk art.

Got lots of hugs.

And even slipped up and got caught looking at the camera.

And I still have this baby on board.  Who Kate has declared that we name Brother.

 
And there you have it, in a nutshell.  Hospital bags are packed (because I learned my lesson last time) and the nursery has lots of blue.  Still no name, but we've almost, kind of, sort of narrowed it to two.

Busy Weekend!

It was a wonderful, busy weekend. Here are a few shots from Sunday... more to come!

Sunday we headed out to Harbison State Forest to watch some bike racing.

Had to take snacks.

Cheered for bikes.

Took a break to read some Little Mermaid - out in the middle of the woods.

Don was nice and brought me a chair.

And finally, at the end of the weekend. Kate's room was almost complete. She did sleep in her bed Saturday night, and fell out twice (onto a nicely padded floor). The second time she told me: "I fell out two times and I said 'Not again!'"
